One of the primary reasons for purchasing this camera was the promise that it was "shockproof." Our 4-year old is super calm, responsible, and is very gentle with her toys. But...she's a kid. And 2 hours after getting the camera, she accidentally dropped it (not threw it) about a foot onto the floor. It still worked for a while. But within 24 hours after getting the camera, it stopped registering the SD card, the lanyard broke (not related to a fall, as far as we can tell, just poor craftsmanship) and in general was hugely disappointing. After reading the other negative reviews, I'm not even confident it stopped working because of the drop. We considered returning it because of false advertising - I have dropped my non-"shockproof" cell phone from a much higher height without issue - but kept it because we didn't want to send the precedent to her that you send something back as not working when you dropped it (even if the manufacturer said you could). She'd saved her own money for months to buy it and is understandably disappointed. I guess the camera helped teach a valuable life lesson about disappointment and getting what you pay for, but that's not exactly what we were looking for. I feel bad for the other kids who've had the same disappointment.
